Greene County General Hospital needed a solution to take their board meetings paperless. They did not realize that same solution would allow the organization to quickly adapt to remote meetings when faced with the global pandemic.
"Decisions gives us complete flexibility in how our meetings are run, whether we are in-person, virtual, or a hybrid of the two," said Wendy Spurlin, Executive Assistant, Greene County General Hospital. "Our first board meeting with Decisions was so successful that we introduced it for our medical staff meetings."
Greene County General Hospital is based in Linton, Ind. (just under two hours from Indianapolis), and is the leading provider of hospital and health care services to more than 30,000 county residents. Spurlin noted that Decisions allows doctors to participate in meetings remotely, since all materials are easily accessible online, in one place. For physicians in outlying county clinics, this means they can spend more time on patient care.
Like many organizations, Greene County General Hospital also found printing copies was wasting valuable time and resources, especially for events like Board of Directors meetings. Then, when COVID-19 forced the meetings to go remote, paper copies were almost impossible to coordinate.
Personally, Spurlin said with the implementation of Decisions, she now saves a full day's work coordinating board meeting materials. "Instead of collecting all the materials and putting together packets (and dealing with the inevitable printer issues), now department members drop their attachments and materials directly into the agenda themselves and when everything is ready, I create and email the meeting book to everyone."
Greene County General Hospital is a small, rural organization. They have been surprised at how well Decisions has integrated and improved their processes.
"We looked at a number of solutions and most were too expensive and complicated," said Spurlin. Already users of Microsoft Teams and Office 365, when Spurlin's manager discovered Decisions, both were quickly impressed with how easy it was to implement.
"All of our board members, doctors, and employees easily use Decisions, regardless of their level of comfort with technology," continued Spurlin. "It is easy to use… Incredibly easy."
