In 2002, Daniel Kahneman received the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for his work on cognitive bias. He and Amos Tversky found leaders are overconfident in their decision-making: Personal biases, combined with poor processes and lack of preparation, lead to bad decisions. Further, research from Harvard professor Cass Sunstein revealed how the management team decision processes can escalate individual decision biases and make the situation worse.
This can have devastating effects on business performance.
Decisions collaborated with Knut Ivar Karevold, PhD., an associate professor of behavioral economics at BI Norwegian Business School and University of Oslo, to apply behavioral science to its technology. The solution gives structure before, during and after the meeting that leads to more engagement and better decisions.
Mårten Skällenäs, director of strategy and innovation at construction firm Backe had this to say, “Decisions did more than give us a technical solution to our meeting challenge,” said Mårten. “It built a people-first solution that allowed us to create a process – almost a methodology – around how to successfully conduct meetings.”
Before the meeting
The agenda builder enables organizers to create a focused agenda. Once published, group members can suggest topics, make notes and upload materials directly to the agenda. This creates a collaborative process that prepares attendees for meeting discussions and decisions.
There is also the Meeting Engagement Score™, a first-of-its-kind algorithm that assesses and predicts the likely success of a meeting based on indicators of attendee engagement and agenda quality. Read more about the Meeting Engagement Score™
During the meeting
Tap “minutes” to sync the agenda in Word or OneNote, and easily take meeting minutes that can be shared with attendees quickly and seamlessly after the meeting.
After the meeting
By using the smart-note taking feature in the Word and OneNote minutes templates, tasks and decisions sync to Microsoft Planner or Excel, so team decisions are easily tracked and tasks easily managed.
The Decisions add-in for Microsoft Teams allows group members to collaborate and discuss meeting agenda items, with easily accessible tabs for past and upcoming meetings, past meeting notes, and a list of team decisions and tasks.
